Apple Announces the iPad Mini – Starting at $329

Moments ago at Apple’s Cupertino headquarters, Tim Cook announced the iPad Mini. Apple’s iPad Mini is a 7.9″ tablet which is priced and specced to compete in the 7-9″ tablet market.

The iPad mini features a 7.9″ 1024 x 768 display, which puts it at 163 ppi, a 5MP rear camera, the new Lightning connector, and the same style anodized aluminum used in the iPhone 5. The processor is a second-generation dual-core A5 clocked at 1Ghz, the same featured in the iPad 2, iPhone 4S, and 5th generation iPod Touch. By not power-hungry processor used in the iPad 3, the A5X, they are able to keep the battery life at 10 hours with the 16.3 Watt Hour battery.

Pre-orders for the WiFi-only model will begin this Friday, October 26th and will ship November 2nd. The 4G models will start at $459 for the 16GB model up to $659 for the 64GB model.
