Virgin is Building The Largest Satellite Internet Grid

Richard Branson has had some cool projects over years, but his lead on personal space travel has always piqued my interests. Now Virgin has partnered with Qualcomm Incorporated to launch and establish a low-Earth orbiting satellite grid to bring the internet to billions across the world, called OneWeb.

Virgin Galactic’s LauncherOne program will be used to send up satellites at a lower cost than traditional satellite launches. Brandon doesn’t really do small projects, so naturally building the largest system of satellites ever is the task of the program. No ETA has been set on the OneWeb program.

“OneWeb Ltd will build, launch and operate the world’s largest ever satellite network.Virgin Galactic’s LauncherOne programme will help make it possible with frequent satellite launches at a much lower cost and with greater reliability.”
