PlayStation Now Open Beta Available for the PS3

Sony’s online streaming service, PlayStation now, is finally available for PS3 owners. PlayStation Now is still in the beta stages of development, but has shown some promise for streaming PlayStation 1, 2, and 3 games over the internet in up to 720P.

Sony acquired Gaikai, the online streaming service, back in 2012 for $380 million and has been developing it to work on nearly all of Sony’s electronics, including the new Bravia televisions and their Xperia smartphones. Sony has struggled to find their footing on how they will monetize the platform, but hopefully this will be worked out over the next few months. PlayStation Now is rumored to be released to the general public in 2015.
