Skype 5.5 Beta & Facebook

Skype released a new beta (5.5.0.110) for Windows users, bringing Facebook integration in and showcasing a slightly more refined UI. Users are now able to message their Facebook friends and call the phone number listed with their account. With the update today, Skype users will be able to do in-browser Facebook video chat with their friends.

Within Skype, you are able to select the newly-added Facebook tab and connect your account to Skype, allowing access to your account & data. Now when users login to Facebook, you will be alerted much in the way that you are of Skype users logging in. Within the Facebook tab on your Skype Home, you get a condensed view of the Facebook News Feed – which shows the latest updates from your friends. As you will see below, your friends who are connected with Facebook and Skype will show up and allow you to call them within this dashboard.

Like the previous Skype betas, there are a number of glitches that are going to be prevalent – hence the “Give Feedback” option. Though I’m not sure how much of what you type in there will be read, it serves the purposes of giving beta testers some means of communicating issues and suggestions.
