Star Wars Returns to the Arcade with Battle Pod

Bandai Namco announced a new arcade game for the Star Wars franchise called Star Wars: Battle Pod.

Battle Pod is a vehicle combat sim that puts you in the seat of various vehicles from the Star Wars franchise. It uses the Unreal Engine 3 and features a 180-degree domed display, 5.1 surround sound, vibrating controllers and seats, and fan system for even more immersion.

The game uses has a flight stick with trigger and button for the right hand and a throttle lever for the left hand.

The game features several different areas. In each level, players control a different vehicle.

In Yavin, players will control an X-Wing. In Hoth players control a snowspeeder, in Endor it’s a speederbike and Death Star 2 is the Millennium Falcon. The game will also feature a final “Vader’s Revenger” stage which has the Sith lord trying to take out the Death Star in an Advanced TIE Fighter.

The game be available in arcades January 2015, but if you’re in New York, will start to hit arcades this coming January, but if you’re in New York near the Midtown Dave & Busters, you can play for a few dollars until Nov. 2.
