Nintendo America tweeted this morning a pro-tip to those giving the Wii U to somebody for Christmas. Those receiving a Wii U this Christmas will be required to download a firmware update before operating the system.
The firmware update is very large and will require a fast internet connection to download, unless the receiver is willing to wait long enough to download a 5GB update, therefore their PSA is a tip to apply this firmware update before wrapping the box, otherwise it may ruin the first time experience playing with one’s new Wii U.
Giving #WiiU as a gift? Pro-tip: Perform system updates before wrapping so it’s good to go as soon as it’s opened!
