Available for all platforms, sources over at Android Police reveal leaked photos showing 5 tabs for Gmail, including Main, Social, Offers, Notifications, and Forums. These tabs will be used for organizing emails.

The Main tab is for main emails from random individuals, or people one would normally talk to across Gmail or contacts. Emails from social platforms sending notifications will be categorized in the Social tab. Emails from sites sending offers, promotions, or deals will be categorized in the Promotions tab. Emails requesting updates or new action items such as a payment will go into the Updates tab. And emails from updates on forum websites will be categorized into the Forums category.

It is believed this update will be released within the next couple of weeks.

In another attempt to make the Xbox 360′s Dashboard more user-friendly, Microsoft is said to release another dashboard update in August, if the sources that say the beta will release in June / July are confirmed. According to The Verge, the new dashboard update will support smaller Live Tiles, which to me means more advertisements on my dashboard. Reasons for this is believed to be coming from Microsoft’s attempt to make the Xbox 360 Dashboard closer looking to Microsoft’s Windows 8 (or 8.1).

The current demo puts you in the bridge of your ship in a pilot / gunner position. I would love to see this integrated with the ‘Walking In Stations’ that is supposed to come out this fall. I will say, after leaving Eve a few years back and testing it out when I got my multi-monitor setup, I was thoroughly impressed at the graphics and the detail they put into making the game compatible with various configurations. This demo is one of the videos that makes me excited about the possibilities of the Oculus.

I’m also picturing someone using it with the chair from the 40 Year Old Virgin or a motion simulator.

However, a recent rumour that spread yesterday claimed that Google will be extending their fiber service to Austin, Texas. Google already announced that they will be expanding to Olathe, Kansas. Last Friday, invitations were sent out to reporters to attend an important announcement that will have “a positive impact on Austinites and the future of the city.”

After reading this information from Mashable, I thought this was enough to conclude that Austin will be the next on their list to receive Google Fiber. Along with the quoted “positive impact on Austinites”, the assumption that it’s referring to Google Fiber was also due to Engadget’s recent article title: ”Google Fiber’s Next Stop: Austin, Texas.”

The article states that anonymous sources reported the invitations are sent for Google and the city to announce that they will be getting Google Fiber. They also pasted a screenshot they took (above) in which Google Fiber’s website directly stated that their next stop is Austin, Texas. That post had no body text. The anonymous reporter based his statement on that picture who visited Google Fiber’s website just at the right time.

CNET later replied that we should wait until Tuesday when the Google announcement is stated before making any conclusions. However, they do bring a more reliable source that agrees Austin will be getting Google Fiber: KVUE wasn’t afraid to clearly say that Google fiber will be coming to Austin. However, after I looked at their article, no sources were mentioned except “multiple City of Austin sources confirmed to KVUE News Friday that we will be next on the list”.

We know Austin is one of the cities that wants Google Fiber since they were bidding for it versus Kansas City, and they lost the bid, making Kansas City the first city with Google Fiber. Since we know Austin wants Google Fiber in it’s area, that to me is the main source that Google and Austin city will announce the launching of Google Fiber next.

Google’s new device is called the Chromebook Pixel, and it features a 12.85″ 2560 x 1700 pixel Gorilla Glass multi-touch display. The Chromebook Pixel is targeted towards consumers who want a small, lightweight laptop with premium parts and construction. It looks very similar to Apple’s Macbook Air and that’s the type of audience Google is hoping the Pixel will attract.
